What is the SEND Pathway?

Out of that beating heart, we desire to be a church that both 1) shepherds disciples toward an ever-increasing readiness to participate in Jesus’ commission as disciple-makers and 2) strategically positions itself to be ready to equip and support those disciple-makers from the first steps into disciple-making in our context all the way to being SENT out to another place as partners in Jesus’ disciple-making mission.

The SEND Pathway is exactly that - a pathway to being sent - for Calvary members who wish to explore and/or discern a call to short or long-term missions or pastoral work and desire to be equipped and supported by Calvary along the way. This pathway has four phases:

SURVEY |

We provide a variety of opportunities to give members a chance to see, experience, and participate in disciple-making activity - especially missions and pastoral work - with the hope that some will sense a call to explore long-term, vocational work. Such opportunities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Missions and ministry conferences

  • ABWE Demo and similar ministry-related experiences

  • Leveraging missional partner visits to Calvary

  • Short term missions trips

  • Serving in student/young adult ministry or leading a LIFEgroup

EQUIP |

We help the member discern their call and desire to pursue long-term disciple-making work by creating an intentional, tailored plan to equip them to become ‘goers’ through focused mentoring during a season of deeper involvement in Calvary’s ministries. This equipping will focus primarily on the following areas:

  • Spiritual Disciplines and Servant Leadership

  • Ministry Competencies

  • Gospel and Biblical Literacy

Some expectations for participants include:

  • Time-frame for short-term: 4-6 equipping sessions (90-day minimum, prior to trip)

  • Time-frame for long-term/vocational: weekly equipping sessions (6 months minimum)

  • If pursuing long-term work and married, at least one of the sessions must include spouse.

NAVIGATE |

We help the member navigate seeking further training and the final pre-deployment processes —which may include:

  • Assisting in pursuing seminary education

  • Assisting with pursuing cultural/language training

  • Providing ministry internships at Calvary

  • Assisting in pastoral position searches

  • Assisting with finding and partnering with a missions agency

  • Assisting with raising support and pre-deployment logistics

DEPLOY |

We commission and send the member as a partner in Jesus’ work and commit to meaningfully support them after they have been sent — which may include:

  • Ongoing prayer

  • Ongoing, monthly financial support

  • Regular communication and accountability

  • Visits from them to Calvary for encouragement and reporting as able

  • Visits from Calvary to them for encouragement and short-term help in the field

NEXT STEPS

PRAY!

Join us in praying that God would “send out workers into his harvest field” from within the Calvary family to make disciples and build His Church all over the world.

Want to be sent?

If you are interested in a short-term missions trip or sense Jesus may be leading you to consider long-term missions or pastoral work, we would love to walk alongside you on this journey and help discern, step by step, how Jesus might be calling you to join in the great privilege of spreading His name and fame far and wide.
